A A Scenic Rail Pass is already discount travel, so there no discounts for seniors, backpackers, students or a group of people travelling together.
A A Scenic Rail Pass is not refundable once travel sector
reservations has been made and confirmed.
A Yes, you can turn up to the with your Scenic Rail Pass numbers, however you are not guaranteed a seat on the train
or ferry service if you have not made a prior booking or reservation.
A A Scenic Rail Pass does NOT guarantee a seat on The Auckland to Wellington train, the Christchurch to Picton train or the Christchurch to Greymouth train
services, any regional, long distance or foot
passenger space on a Cook Strait ferry service unless a reservation has been made.

Travel Sector Reservations or call the
New Zealand national tollfree phone number of the operator you want to
travel with.
A You will be emailed your Scenic Rail Pass travel e-ticket/Itineraries of your travel sector/s containing the departure dates, departure/arrival times and check-in times
to the email address that was given in the original purchase of a Scenic
Rail Pass.
A Yes. Groups or families can be booked on a Scenic Rail
Pass and must always travel together
on the same service travelling in the same direction of the party your a
travelling with.

A It is your own free choice to decide where and when and what days you would like to travel within the duration of your Scenic Rail Pass.
A This depends how much you use/travel using your Scenic
Rail Pass. The more you travel, more money you
will save.
A You can not use your Scenic Rail Pass on The Capital Connection, Wairarapa
Connection, Auckland and Wellington suburban train services.
A No. The Scenic Rail Pass does not include the extra items like bikes,
extra luggage, etc. You will need to book and pay for these costs separately for each train and/or ferry sector
travelled.
A You are allowed a maximum of 2 bags per person not exceeding 20 Kgs each bag. Each bag is to be no more than 200 linear centimeters in size (height plus length plus width).
